profecˈtitious, a. Rom. Law. Also -icious. [f. late L. profectīci-us, -ītius that proceeds from some one (f. profect-, ppl. stem of proficiscī: see prec.) + -ous.] That proceeds or is derived from a parent or ancestor. Opposed to adventitious.
