Hieracite Eccl. Hist.|ˈhaɪərəsaɪt| [ad. med.L. Hierācītæ followers of Hierax (see below).] A follower of Hierax, an Egyptian ascetic (c 300 a.d.), who denied the resurrection of the body, and taught that celibacy is required for Christian perfection, etc.
