home-wrecker, n. depreciative (orig. U.S.). Brit. |ˈhəʊmˌrɛkə|, U.S. |ˈhoʊmˌrɛkər| [‹ home n.1 + wrecker n.1 Compare slightly later home-wrecking adj.] A person who is blamed for the break-up of a marriage or similar long-term relationship, usually because of his or her affair with one of the partners; a person regarded as of this type. In earlier use esp. a man; now esp. a woman.
