inhibine, n. Biochem.|ˈɪnhɪbiːn| Also inhibin. [a. or ad. G. Inhibin (H. Dold et al. 1936, in Zeitschr. f. Hygiene u. Infektionskrankheiten CXVIII. 369): cf. inhibit v., -ine5.] Any of a group of naturally-occurring substances, found chiefly in honey and saliva, which inhibit the growth of bacteria.
