The local name (often with capital initial) for a barren, much dissected, limestone plateau south of Wadi Hadhramaut in the Arabian peninsula; also applied (often with captial initial) to different regions within this plateau, and (with lower-case initial) to the individual blocks of tableland into which the whole plateau is dissected.
By some writers the plateau itself is designated by the plural form.
