linalool Chem.|lɪˈnæləʊɒl| [a. G. linalool (F. W. Semmler 1891, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XXIV. 207), f. G. linalo(ëol linaloe oil + -ol -ol.] An optically active tertiary alcohol, (CH3)2C:CH·CH2·CH2·C(CH3)OH·CH:CH2, found in linaloe oil and used in perfumery: the d-isomer is coriandrol and the l-isomer also occurs in the oils of rose, bergamot, lavender, and thyme.
