† zymic, a. Chem. Obs.|ˈzaɪmɪk, ˈzɪmɪk| In actual use zumic |ˈzjuːmɪk|. [f. Gr. ζύµη leaven + -ic.] Pertaining to or connected with fermentation; formerly applied to a supposed acid (afterwards shown to be impure lactic acid) obtained by fermentation of starchy substances.
