A naked mendicant belonging to any Hindu sect, spec. such an ascetic belonging to a Dadu Panthi subsect whose members are allowed to carry arms and serve as mercenaries.

The Nágas, who carry arms, which they are willing to exercise for hire, and, amongst the Hindu princes, they have been considered as good soldiers. Ibid. 135 Nagas. a. A member of a group of peoples living mainly in the Naga hills which divide Assam from Burma; a native or inhabitant of Nagaland. Also attrib.
b. The Tibeto-Burman language of these peoples.
