phenylephrine Pharm.|fɛnɪl-, fiːnaɪlˈɛfrɪn, -iːn| [f. phenyl + epinephrine.] The lævorotatory form of 1-(m-hydroxyphenyl)-2-methylaminoethanol, HO·C6H4·CH2OH·NH·CH3, which is used (usu. as the hydrochloride) as an anti-hypotensive agent and nasal decongestant. Cf. Neo-Synephrine.
