prosiopesis Gram.|prɒsɪəʊˈpiːsɪs| [f. Gr. προ- before + σιώπησις taciturnity, f. σιωπᾶν to be silent.] Jespersen's term for ellipsis of the beginning of a grammatical structure in speech.

Gram. x. 142 The subject must generally be expressed, and those few cases in which it is omitted, may be explained through prosiopesis, which sometimes becomes habitual in certain stock exclamations like Thank you. 1927― Mod.
