Premonstratensian, n. and a. Eccl. Hist.|priːmɒnstrəˈtɛnsɪən| Also 7 præ-. [f. med.L. Præmonstrātensis (see next) + -an.] A. n. A member of the Roman Catholic order of regular canons founded by St. Norbert at Prémontré, near Laon, Île de France, in 1119. Also called Premonstrants, Norbertians, and, from the colour of their dress, White Canons. Also, a member of a corresponding order of nuns.
