A fossil genus of ganoid fishes of the Devonian age.
1857in H. Miller O.R. Sandst. viii. (ed. 23) 149 note, Cephalaspis rostratus is a Pteraspis; and Prof. Huxley and Mr. Salter describe Cephalaspis Lewisii and Lloydii as Pteraspides. 1880Günther Fishes 354 Pteraspis, with the cephalic shield finely striated or grooved, composed of seven pieces.
