ˈsaltwort Bot.
[prob. after Du. zoutkruid; cf. G. salzkraut.]
A name for several maritime and salt-marsh plants. Cf. glasswort.
1. Any plant of the genus Salsola, spec. S. Kali (Common or Prickly Saltwort); = kali1 1.
