sanbornite Min.|ˈsænbɔːnaɪt| [f. the name of Frank Sanborn (d. 1945), U.S. mineralogist + -ite1.] A triclinic silicate of barium, BaSi2O5, which occurs as white or colourless plates at a locality in California, and has been artificially prepared.
