borane Chem.|ˈbɔəreɪn| [ad. G. boran (A. Stock 1916, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XLIX. 111), f. boron + -ane (after methane, etc.).] The systematic name for a boron hydride; spec. the (hypothetical) compound BH3; also, any substituted derivative of a boron hydride.
