burgoo|bɜːˈguː| Also burgou(t). [ad. Arab. būrġul cooked, parched, and crushed wheat, ultimately ad. Turk. bulgur: see bulgur, burghul.] 1. A thick oatmeal gruel or porridge used chiefly by seamen; loblolly.
