sharpite Min.|ˈʃɑːpaɪt| [a. F. sharpite (J. Mélon 1938, in Bull. Séances Inst. R. Colonial Belge IX. 333), f. the name of Major R. R. Sharp, who discovered the uranium deposit where it was first found: see -ite1.] A hydrated carbonate of uranium found as greenish yellow crusts of thin radiating fibres.
