kentia|ˈkɛntɪə| [mod.L. (C. L. Blume 1836, in Rumphia II. xvii. 94), f. the name of William Kent (d. c 1828), botanical collector + -ia1.] A palm with pinnate leaves of the genus so called, native to Australia and some Pacific islands, or one formerly included in this genus.
