▸ Music. A type of popular music, originating in Trinidad, that fuses various types of traditional Indian folk music with Caribbean rhythms, such as calypso and soca. Also chutney-soca. Chutney is typically performed on acoustic instruments such as the harmonium, dholak, and dantal, with lyrics sung in Hindi and English.
