quinalbarbitone Pharm.|ˌkwɪnælˈbɑːbɪtəʊn| [f. L. quin-que five + allyl + barbitone.] The compound 5-allyl-5-(1-methylbutyl)-barbituric acid, which is used as a sedative-hypnotic, esp. for pre-operative sedation, usu. in the form of its sodium salt, C12H17N2O3Na, a white powder often known by the proprietary name Seconal.
