[f. L. ablaqueāt- ppl. stem of ablaqueā-re to disentangle, loosen (the earth round roots); f. ab off, away + laqueā-re to entangle, f. laqueus a noose.]
To loosen or remove the soil round the roots of trees, so as to let their fibres spread out. A term of Roman husbandry.
