Etymology: < a- prefix2 + founded, past participle of found v.1, after Anglo-Norman afoundi, Middle French enfondu, and Anglo-Norman effundé (see afoundered adj.). Compare afoundered adj. and later afound v. Compare also foundered at founder v. 5 and fundied adj.
Obsolete. rare.
