Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin aerōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin aerōsus of copper or brass < aer- , aes copper, brass (see aerarian adj.) + -ōsus -ose suffix1. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (īərōu·s) /ɪəˈrəʊs/.
Obsolete. rare.
Of the nature of copper or brass, coppery, brassy.
