Etymology: < co- prefix + driver n.
1. A person who shares the driving of a vehicle with another, esp. in a long-distance motor race. Also in rally driving: a person who continually provides the driver with information about the course from the front passenger seat. Cf. co-pilot n.figurative in quot. 1908.
