Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item, or perhaps modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: alible adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < alible adj. + -ity suffix (see -bility suffix), perhaps after French alibilité (1825) or its etymon post-classical Latin alibilitas (1610 or earlier; rare). N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (ælĭbi·lĭti) /ælɪˈbɪlɪtɪ/.
Obsolete. rare.
The capacity of a nutrient to be assimilated.
