Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French débitage.
Etymology: < French débitage the chopping or breaking-up of wood, stone, etc. (1794 in this sense) < débiter (see debiteuse n.) + -age -age suffix.
Archaeology.
The unworked chips, flakes, or other waste material produced in the making of stone or flint implements.
