Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin diffrangere , diffringere , -ible suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin diffrangere, variant of diffringere (see diffract v.) + -ible suffix, after frangible adj.
Science. Now rare.
Of light or other waves: that can be diffracted; susceptible to diffraction.
