Etymology: < Old French desjointe, disjointe separation, division, rupture (Godefroy) < Latin type *disjuncta , feminine noun < disjunctus past participle, analogous to nouns in -ata , -ada , -ade , French -ée : see -ade suffix. This takes the place in part of Latin disjunctio.
Obsolete.
A disjointed or out-of-joint condition; a position of perplexity or difficulty; a dilemma, ‘fix’.
