1893–7 J. S. Shedlock tr. K. W. J. H. Riemann Dict. Music 209/1 Durchkomponirt (Ger., ‘through-composed’), a term applied to a song, when the different strophes of the poem have each their own melody, and are not, as in the volk-song and simple art-song, sung to one and the same melody.
