A West African monkey, Chlorocebus sabaeus (family Cercopithecidae), with golden-green fur and a dark face, which has been introduced to the Cape Verde Islands and parts of the Caribbean; formerly also called callithrix.The green monkey is often treated as a subspecies of the widespread savannah or grass monkey, C. aethiops, and the name is sometimes used to refer to this latter species.
