Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: heroic adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < heroic adj. + -ity suffix, after French héroïcité (1716 or earlier), perhaps itself after post-classical Latin heroicitas (1639 or earlier, apparently earliest in Italian sources). Compare Italian eroicità (1666 or earlier). Compare earlier heroicness n., heroicalness n., heroism n.
Heroic nature or quality, esp. of virtue; an instance of this.
