单词 imprudence
释义

imprudencen.

/ɪmˈpruːdəns/
Etymology: < Latin imprūdēntia, noun of quality < imprūdēns imprudent adj. and n.: see -ence suffix. Compare French imprudence (Oresme, 14th cent.), which may have been the immediate source.
a. The quality or fact of being imprudent; want of prudence, circumspection, or discretion; indiscretion, rashness. [In Chaucer's Parson's Tale ⁋317, ‘imprudence’ is the reading in manuscripts Harl. 7334, Petw. 635, Selden; but this is evidently an error: all manuscripts have ‘impudent’ in the correlative ⁋323: see quot. c1386 at impudence n. 1 ]
