Etymology: < Islam n. + -ism suffix. Compare French islamisme (1697 in sense ‘Islam’; now frequently in sense ‘Islamic fundamentalism’ (1987 or earlier)).In form Islamismus after Latin nouns in -ismus -ism suffix.
