Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: labrum n.1, -iform comb. form.
Etymology: < labrum n.1 + -iform comb. form. With sense 1 compare scientific Latin labriformis (1830 or earlier in this sense), French labriforme (1834 or earlier). In sense 2 after scientific Latin labriformis (1842 in this sense, in the source of quot. 1842; < scientific Latin Labrus , genus name (see labrid n.) + classical Latin -formis -form comb. form2).
