Etymology: modern Latin (N.E. Brown 1922, in Gardeners' Chron. 28 Jan. 44/2), < Greek λίθος stone + -ops comb. form.
A small succulent plant of the genus so called, belonging to the family Aizoaceæ, native to Namaqualand, South Africa, and resembling small stones.
