Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Mesocephal.

Etymology: < German Mesocephal (J. Kollmann 1882, in Mitteilungen der anthropologischen Gesellschaft in Wien 11 1) < meso- meso- comb. form + -cephal (see -cephali comb. form). Compare earlier Mesocephali n. Compare French mésocéphale (1900 in this sense; earlier mésaticéphale in the same sense: see mesaticephalism n.).
