Etymology: < German Milarit (A. Kenngott 1870, in Neues Jahrb. f. Mineral. 81) < the name of Val Milar , a valley in the Swiss Alps + -it -ite suffix¹.

Mineralogy.

A hexagonal silicate, K₂Ca₄Al₂Be₄Si₂₄O₆₀·H₂O, that occurs esp. in pegmatites as colourless to pale green prismatic crystals and fibrous aggregates.
