Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Norovirus.
Etymology: < scientific Latin Norovirus < Nor- (in Norwalk n.) + -o- connective + virus n.
Virology.
A genus of caliciviruses comprising the Norwalk virus, which causes epidemic gastroenteritis in humans, and closely related caliciviruses; (also norovirus) a virus of this genus.
