Etymology: < oligo- comb. form + dendro- comb. form + glia n., after Spanish oligodendroglía (P. del Rio-Hortega 1921, in Bol. de la Real Soc. Española de Hist. Nat. 21 63).
Histology.
(With singular agreement) supportive tissue of the central nervous system consisting of oligodendrocytes (rare); (with plural agreement) oligodendrocytes.
