Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: phono- comb. form, -phobia comb. form.
Etymology: < phono- comb. form + -phobia comb. form. In sense 1 after German Phonophobie (1841 in the source translated in quot. 1841 at sense 1). With sense 2 compare French phonophobie (1906 or earlier).
Medicine.
1. Fear of speaking; an instance of this. Now rare or disused.

This internal movement might, on that account, be called phonophobia.
