释义 | pican.1 1. Typography. a. A size of type, now standardized as 12 point; a unit of measurement of this size, used for type or plate areas, leads, etc.Having long been used as a standard type size, approximately equal to 1/ 6 inch (4.2 mm), in 1886 the pica was redefined by the American Typefounders' Association as equal to 35/ 83 of a centimetre (0.166 inch); in some modern systems it is defined as precisely 1/ 6 inch. In typewriters and the like it generally indicates a letter width giving a pitch of ten characters to the inch (about 3.9 to the centimetre).
