Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin ramiculus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin ramiculus small branch (c1175, 1280 in British sources) < classical Latin rāmus branch (see ramus n.) + -culus -cle suffix. Compare ramiculose adj. In quot. 1881 after French ramicule (1881 in the passage translated). N.E.D. (1903) gives the pronunciation as (ræ·mik'l) /ˈræmɪk(ə)l/.
Obsolete. rare.
