Etymology: < Hindi sābar, sāmbar. N.E.D. (1909) enters this under the headword sambur and gives the pronunciation as (sæ·mbəɹ) /ˈsæmbə(r)/.
Either of two large deer, Cervus unicolor or C. equinus, native to southern Asia.
