Compare earlier adjoinant n.The following quot. could show an isolated earlier example, in a meaning ‘person who adjoins an adjoinder’, but since the same author usually elsewhere has adjoinder in the same (otherwise unrecorded) meaning, it seems more likely that this example shows a transmission error for adjoinder (compare adjoinder n.):1617 S. Collins Epphata to F. T. (title page) Against the slaunderous cauills of a namelesse Adioyner; entitling his Booke in euery page of it, A Discouerie of many fowle absurdities.
