1936 Farmhouse Fare 148 Siot. ½ cupful oat bread. 1 pint buttermilk. Crush the bread..and put into a basin. Pour in the buttermilk, and let the bread soak for 1 hour, when it will be ready to serve.

1974 Country Life 12 Dec. 1845/2 Siot..was a pint of buttermilk poured on to a half cup of crushed oat bread... The ‘mash’ was served with bread and butter.
