Etymology: Probably < Portuguese búcaro clay cup < Latin poculum cup.
A scented red earthenware brought originally by the Portuguese from Mexico and similar earthenware made in Portugal and Spain from the 16th to the 18th century; the name is also applied to unglazed Yi-hsing ware of China.
