A lattice-like structure of thin blades of a mineral, typically calcite, deposited in cracks in limestone or other rock, and occurring in caves, mineral deposits, etc. ΚΠ 1892 Evening Argus-Leader (Sioux Falls, S. Columbia Fall 13/3 People of all ages can handle these caves. Watch for formations of box-work, a honeycomb-like structure made of fragile calcite plates.
