Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: bourgeois n.1, bourgeois adj., -istic suffix.
Etymology: < either bourgeois n.1 or bourgeois adj. + -istic suffix. N.E.D. (1887) enters this under bourgeoisitic , giving as sole example the 1869 edition of the text cited in quot. 1848, which has this form (as does the 1865 edition).
