Etymology: < post-classical Latin ubiation-, ubiatio (1624 in a marginal note in the source of quot. 1624), alteration (after classical Latin ubi where: see ubi n.) of ubeation-, ubeatio (14th cent.), apparently < classical Latin ubi where + -ātiō -ation suffix. Compare later ubication n.
Obsolete. rare.
The action or fact of one thing taking the place of another; spec. with reference to transubstantiation. In quot. a1656 echoing quot. 1624.
