1. Of or relating to a hartebeest or other related antelope; designating such an antelope, esp. the bubal, Alcelaphus buselaphus buselaphus. Now rare.Antelopes of this type were formerly placed in the subfamily Bubalinae and are now placed in the subfamily Alcelaphinae.
